“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”
Hebrews 13:16

  • Write a definition or some synonyms of the word neglect.
  • Do you ever leave good “undone” or get careless about it? Read Galatians 6:1-10 & make a list of some of the ways we can do good.
  • It is sometimes hard to discern, but God does not leave us alone to figure it out.

” Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind,
that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Romans 12:2

  • Ask God to renew your mind and transform you so that you can discern what He has planned for you in this day…write down anything that He brings to mind.
  • One of the ways we can do this is by sharing what we have. Make a list of he qualities, spiritual and material gifts,  etc.  that you possess which you can share and how you can share them.
  • It can be the smallest thing a smile a phone call or a note. Set out in this day to be obedient to what God has called you to. It is a gift to Him!

Matthew 25:14-30

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,  not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 25:14-30

  • In the Matthew passage Jesus shares with us the picture of a faithful servant. What characteristics did the faithful servants reveal?
  • If you are a believer, you are saved by God’s gift of grace through faith in Christ. Still, it is in this faith we were created by God to do “good works.”

*You HAVE received a gift!   (1 Corinthians 12:4-6)
* God asks you to USE your gifts! (1 Peter 4:10)
* DON’T BURY YOUR TALENTS!

  • Ask God to reveal to you today your talents and how you can best use them in service to Him! Write down your prayer…pray it frequently and watch as God grows you.

Romans 1:16-17

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.  For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.'”
Romans 1:16-17

The Gospel is the Good News of Jesus Christ, His life, His death, His resurrection & His return for the salvation of all who believe.

  • Verse 16 proclaims the Gospel is what?
  • To whom is the power of salvation available?
  • When you become a believer, you are saved and justified by faith in Christ. Through Him God pours out His grace and gives you the gift of righteousness (Romans 1:17). In this verse how are you told the righteous should live?
  • I once read or heard – I can not remember – the quote, “Trust in God’s grace and act on your faith.” It is so easy to think of faith as a quiet & personal. But here we are told to LIVE by faith! How are you being called to actively live your faith.

Again, Jesus puts himself in a place to have a  loving interaction with a person in desperate need.

The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming
(he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.”
Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am he.”

John 4:25,26

  • What kind of water does Jesus offer the Samaritan woman?
  • What does Jesus share about how God wants us to worship?
  • Remembering that Jesus is “the way, and the truth, and the life”  (John 14:6). What does it mean to you to worship in spirit and truth?
  • We are all in desperate need. Without the living water we are sinners who live life empty and thirsty. What does it mean to you that Jesus can fill you up and meet your every need.

Matthew 20:20-28

I just love the way The Message tells the story. Put yourself in the disciple’s place. Jesus says…

“Whoever wants to be great must become a servant.
Whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave.
That is what the Son of Man has done: He came to serve, not be served—
and then to give away his life in exchange for the many who are held hostage.”

Matthew 20:25-28 The Message

  • What makes the argument that takes place at the beginning of this passage relevant to you?
  • In Jesus’ kingdom what makes someone great?
  • As stated in this passage what was Jesus’ purpose?
  • Jesus’ attitude is very different from  that of our human nature (and he’s actually worthy of the title Master). I know just tonight I was feeling a little weary of serving. But, we are called to serve where we are! What does Jesus’ precept about greatness call you to in your own life?

This story grips my heart. Though they are in the midst of a crowd, Jesus and this fragile woman have a very personal interaction. He feels her…He knows her …

He said to her, “Daughter, your faith  has healed you.
Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
Mark 5:34 NIV

  • Write what strikes you most about the woman we meet in this passage.
  • Write what moves you about how Jesus interacts with her.
  • Where do you need healing? Pour yourself out before your healer.  Jesus is there, just reach out and grab onto His cloak…
