I sometimes shudder to think of what I must sound like when I respond angrily to my kids. Lord may you give us hearts that love earnestly and answer softly.

Read all of Proverbs Chapter 2 – One of my favorites!

My son, if you receive my words
    and treasure up my commandments with you,
making your ear attentive to wisdom
    and inclining your heart to understanding…
Then you will understand righteousness and justice
    and equity, every good path;
 for wisdom will come into your heart,
    and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;
 discretion will watch over you,
    understanding will guard you,
 delivering you from the way of evil.

Proverbs 2:1-3, 10-12

What is your heart reflecting today? Jesus reminded us that it is from our hearts that our mouth speaks (Mark 6:45). What are your words saying about your heart? Ask the Lord to create in you a pure heart so that you can walk in His ways and love with His love. Praying…

Mark 6:41-44

“Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all.  They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.”

  • Jesus here is our example. He gave thanks and God multiplied the blessings – they all were satisfied. Do you have trouble being satisfied? Waiting for what’s next…better…newer…different? Ask God to help you be satisfied where you are.
  • Give Thanks to God – for “Every Good and perfect Gift is from above.” James 1:17. Make a list of 10 gifts no matter how big or small that our Father in Heaven provided for you today!
