Ask the Spirit to guide you as you read God’s word for today.
Read Matthew 13:1-23
When reading the Bible we often see a connection between God’s word and the human heart. In this parable Jesus exposes that connection. He emphasizes the importance of listening with a prepared heart and shares a prophesy from Isaiah.
For this people’s heart has grown dull,
and with their ears they can barely hear,
and their eyes they have closed.
Matthew 13:15a ESV
- What does Jesus’ parable reveal to you about the difference between simply hearing God’s word and listening with a prepared heart?
- Write a prayer asking the Spirit to prepare your heart so that you can receive the seed of God’s precious word
