Acts 2

pink wreath write

  • How did the power of Holy Spirit show itself as it came upon the apostles?
  • What happened immediately after they were filled with the Holy Spirit?
  • Through this action God was able to reveal Himself to the many Jews gathered in Jerusalem. What caught their attention?
  • In turn this gave Peter the opportunity to so share the truth (his first sermon). He powerfully connects prophecy with Jesus & The Spirit. Note the fulfillment of scripture.
  • Peter assures Israel of one thing in verse 36. What is it?
  • The people who heard Peter were cut to the heart and they asked what they should do. What is Peter’s answer?
  • Who is the promise for?
  • That is you!!!!!! The promise is for you! And so is the warning! What is Peter’s warning?
  • That warning is the same today. Remember God’s truth is the same today as it was then! What does it mean to save yourself from a corrupt generation?

Pray about it…is there anything that you have let creep into your life that is part of this corrupt generation?  I will be praying  that the Holy Spirit will strengthen and guide you as you draw closer to Christ …

Acts 1:1-10

  • The book of Acts was written by Luke who coincidently wrote the book of Luke – hee hee. The first verses of Acts sum up the final verses of Luke. Note the similarities.
  • What is the difference between what John baptized with and what Jesus promised?
  • What does Jesus tell his disciples they would receive when the Holy Spirit comes on them?
  • When they are clothed with this power what does Jesus tell them (and you) their role  will be?
  • Jesus Was taken up to heaven! How did He go and what are we told about His return to earth?
  • You have your own eyewitness account of the power of Christ in your life!  How has Jesus changed and transformed you? Write your eyewitness testimony…
  • Who can you share it with today?

Luke 24:36-53

  • What is the first thing Jesus says when he appears to His disciples, and what does that reveal about what a relationship with Him can bring you?
  • The disciples still do not quite get it. What does Jesus do to prove himself?
  • He reveals He has risen in bodily form by exhibiting human characteristics. What are they?
  • Jesus opened their minds – what did Jesus tell about himself?
  • What did Jesus promise His father would send and what would that clothe them with?
  • You can be clothed with the same thing! Paul reminds  us that he can do everything through Christ who gives him strength (Philippians 4:13). What do you need His strength for today?

  • When they saw Jesus what did the disciples do?
  • If you were face to face with your risen Savior what would you do?
  • What are the specific instructions Jesus gives the disciples and you?
  • What is the promise that Jesus gives us at the end of the passage?
  • He is with you!!!!  Think of how that changes your perspective on your needs for this day. Write about it…

CHALLENGE – Memorize Matthew 28:20. This was one of my children’s memory verses in Community Bible Study. It has stuck with me and become such a comfort.

Isaiah 53   John 19:38-20:18

  • It is amazing see read Isaiah 53 and see all the ways that Jesus fulfilled the Messianic prophecy of life, death and resurrection.  Note some specific verses in these two passages that point to Jesus as the Christ.
  • Isaiah 53:10 paints a picture of Jesus’ death as a guilt offering. But 53:11 reveals what comes after His suffering. Note what comes next…
  • In the John passage,  Jesus tenderly speaks with Mary in the garden and shares with her where he is going. What does Jesus share with her?
  • Alleluia he is alive!!!!!  He is with our God in heaven and has bore our sin &  taken our punishment that we might have life and peace in him. Are you willing to accept that at gift? Are you willing to let Him transform you?

Psalm 22  Matthew 27:32-56

  • compare Matthew 27:45-47 and Psalm 22:1
  • compare Matthew 27:35 and Psalm 22:15-18
  • My NIV Student Bible describes Psalm 22 as the “Song of the Cross” . What different emotions /experiences does David share that parallel Jesus’ crucifixion?
  • When Jesus died the  curtain that separated God from man was torn in two  Now you have direct access to God through Christ. Think about the freedom, grace, and power that you have in that relationship. How is it different than what the followers of God were allowed before Christ (Exodus 26:31-36)?
  • Read the closing verses of The Song of the Cross. It is pretty awesome to think that David sang about you!!!!  You have fulfilled this prophecy. You are a future generation that serves the Lord!!!!!!!  Proclaim His righteousness in your journal and in the world in this day!

  • Looking at both passages, how does Jesus fulfill the prophecy of  the triumphal entry of the King of Kings?
  • Zechariah gives us a snapshot of Jesus’ role. What does it tell us about Jesus’ purpose?
  • The crowd recognized him as the Messiah, what did they shout as He entered Jerusalem?
  • Write your own praise proclaiming Jesus as King over your life.

  • In Isaiah we hear God speak!!! How does he describe Jesus and His Purpose?
  • Then we see a picture of God. How is He described and what role does He play in Jesus’ ministry.
  • “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” Luke 4:21 Awesome!!!!!! And I don’t mean that in some 80’s kind of way ;). Meditate on the Isaiah passage. Share how Jesus has revealed himself to you in this way.
